Independent Study and Mentorship
The Independent Study and Mentorship Program in Frisco ISD is a rigorous yet rewarding elective offered to high-achieving 11th and 12th graders who are selected into this prestigious program after an extensive interview and application process. After being admitted into the ISM program, the student has the opportunity to not only select a field of study to research during the year, in my case, entrepreneurship and investing, but also has the ability to connect with professionals and gain valuable experiences. After conducting research and interviews with professionals from the selected field, the student selects a mentor to guide the student through major projects throughout the year. With this mentorship, the student has the ability to continue learning about the selected topic while working with the mentor to conduct initial research and develop an original and final product, both of which are showcased at various points throughout the year. I encourage all incoming juniors and seniors to apply for the ISM program; the program is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Applications usually open in March of the school year, with results being announced the following May.
